An example of hardware could be 3 different companies, one company could spend alot of money and make there films 3D another company could do the same but spend less money, then the third company will not choose the option of 3D. The option that didn't choose 3D will still gain as much money as the two other companies with out having to spend out because they will still have a large audience who do not like 3D films so they will gain income form that, and the two other companies could loose money because some audiences do not like 3D films.

Evaluation.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

When as a group we started to look at different film genres in preparation for our title sequence, we looked at many film genres and the conventions of each of those genres. We first looked at horror and that how there would always be a killer and normally this surrounds a young group of college kids and then turns out one of the kids was actually involved, we then looked at rom-coms and this would normally have young attractive people falling in love but there would always be something separating them from coming together. We then looked at fantasy and how that would maybe tie into a rom com
and this is how we came up with the original idea for the film putting two genres together. We then looked at how we could maybe turn this idea into a musical, this idea went well with the two genres that were chosen because were rom coms can contain some drama turning this idea into a musical gave us so many more ideas into storylines because the characters could then sing about the drama that is unfolding before them. We then started to look at similar films that would tie into our idea.

We looked at a film called freaky Friday, we can relate to this film with our idea because this film deals with a body shop and how mother and daughter realize how the other one lives this blends into the magical and fantasy idea we had for our idea because in our film we have a character who wants to change the way she lives this then causes her to live in an alternate universe where she can be who she wanted to be.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product represents different social groups because we are aiming it at a certain target audience, this target audience is people who are interested in the fantasy genre and who enjoy musicals. We wanted to also bring in a larger social group by changing the storyline into one that many could enjoy because our film is about finding who you are and that your don’t really want everything you wish for.

Who would be your audience for your media Product?
Our target audience is 16-40 year olds, this is because our film connotes the way in which someone of the older generation lives but wanting to wish she could change her life and believing that her past has something to do with the fact that she hasn’t got the future she wanted, I believe we chose a suitable age range because the older teens can relate to the film because there just starting to realize what they want to do for there future and this film can show that not everything is at it seems.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
As a group we chose Metro Goldwyn Mayer. We chose this distribution company becasue they have distributed a number of films that we believe can relate to the target audience that we are aiming our film at. The have distributed films such as:

   The Pink Panther

   The Pink Panther 2

   Your Mine and Ours

   Agent Cody Banks

   Agent Cody Banks 2

   James Bond

I think they would be interest in distributing our film because as through my research i have notice that they haven’t produced a film where a character may go into an alternate universe so this film could be a first for them.

How did you attract/address your audience?

We attracted our audience in many different ways. We then attracted our audience by the star actress Idina Menzel, she is an actress in many films and is also a star on Broadway. We then attracted another range of audience by the effect we used on our title sequence, which was stop motion.

Lesson Notes

In Mondays lesson I was on the macs editing our title sequence, all I have to do now is add the titles into the title sequence and the music then we will be done. i believe the title sequence could of gone better but we kept changing our idea so wasnt left with alot of time to shoot and edit. I do believe that other team members could have put more effort into this title sequence and helped out alot more instead of not turning up to lessons or not contributing to tasks that are set. Also when i was editing the title sequence I didn't receive any help from team members.

Lesson Notes

Havent posted in a while so in this post will conclude everything we have done.

Last week as a group decided to change our idea from using a doll in the opening title sequence to lego, by doing this we could easily make our own set and therefore be able to use the props more easily to make the title sequence look smoother, we successfully filming with the lego but then was advised to scrap the idea of using lego because lego does not relate at all to our film. We then came up with the idea of going back to the original idea of using real people but changed the idea around a little. On sunday the 29th of January me and another team member went to my house so we could film, we successfully took over 700 photos and managed to finish the title sequence, currently i am editing the title sequence together but having difficulty adding the music. by looking at the title sequence i will take into consideration that speed settings may need to be changed and there may be some lighting errors.

Lesson Notes

In our lesson today we was taught by jack how to use final cut pro so we can edit our title sequence properly, we took our footage from imovie and deleted it so we could start again in final cut pro. one of our team members wasnt in and she has the soudntrack to our title sequence on her memory stick as the one on my mac got corrupted.

Lesson notes

In yesterday's lesson we started to write lyrics for our music that we are using for our opening title sequence. Whilst the group was doing this I continued to edit the footage that we already have and looked over for any mistakes.

Lesson Notes

In this lesson we succesfully filmed the opening of our title sequence where the young girl is playing with the doll, we then sucessfully took the first 65 photos where the doll is in the bed and the quilt moves down. this went really well and we found no implications, we took photos in a dark room where lamps were our only source of light, we did this so when taking the photos the lighing wouldnt change. i then edited the sequence together and think that this lesson went well.

These are our test shots...

Filming and Planning

In our lesson today we had a new member join our group and we filled him on our film idea and out title sequence idea so we know have 4 members in our group. Me and another member went onto a sight location and shot the ending of our title sequence this is where the title sequence ands and then we show the first 9 seconds of our film.
The other 2 team members got a child who could play the little girl at the beginning on the title sequence. We then are planning to film the opening of the title sequence.

Testing Stop Motion 2

In our lesson with shaun as a group we decided to test stop motion again but with the actual doll and background that we are going to use.
This could have gone better because even though we positioned the camera on a tripod the camera was still moving and this took away the effect of stop motion.

Thursday 5 January 2012

Plans for next lesson and notes

For tomorrows lesson we are planning on testing out stop motion skills but actually using the props for our opening title sequence, we will be testing a certain scene that we are going to actually going to put into our stop motion titles sequence which will be the scene were our character is flying through the air whilst holding onto a newspaper. We hope that this scene will be successful because this will truly test whether or not we have the ability to pull the opening title sequence off.

All of our props are going to be hand made which means that if they need improvements or need changing we can do this as we wish.

Our original idea was to use a person in out opening title sequence but now we have decided to use a doll because the way we wanted to shoot wasn't workable and would of required to much work which we wouldn't of had time to complete.

We are planning at the end of our title sequence to show the opening few seconds of our film. This is only possible if we have enough time.

Lesson Notes

In yesterdays lesson we went through our storyboards and were advised to restart because the way i decided to draw them would have taken to long and we wouldn't of had enough time to complete them, we always wrote out a new schedule and a lesson plan.
